Shoal I
30×30cm
Acrylic on board
Painted intuitively with a palette knife and a variety of art tools, Shoal captures the shifting light, movement, and hidden depth of the ocean. Each piece draws on my lived experience as a sailor—navigating coastlines, studying the water’s surface, and feeling the quiet power beneath.
The layered textures and gestural marks suggest rocky outcrops breaking through expanses of blue, evoking both solitude and connection. Whether shown individually or as a triptych, these works invite the viewer into a world shaped by sea journeys and the ever-changing rhythms of nature.
