Rabbit in the Spotlight!

I'm beyond thrilled and deeply humbled to have received the inaugural Ria Bignell Art Prize at BCC ArtEx (Bunbury Catholic College Art Extraordinaire) this October. As the first prize of its kind for this event, it came as a total surprise—I was genuinely stunned when they called my name!

The prize is a beautiful tribute to Ria Bignell, a gifted artist and a truly remarkable person. Ria started this amazing event 40 years ago, hosting it in her living room. Over the years, it has blossomed into one of the region's premier art exhibitions. In honor of her life and legacy, her three daughters and son came together to establish this prize. Out of 400 entries, they all chose my painting, Koombana Bay III —a decision that must have been challenging! Meeting her family and hearing heartfelt stories about Ria made this moment even more meaningful.

A huge thank you to the Bignell family and BCC ArtEx for this incredible honor!

Diana Neggo – Artist Bio

I was born in Perth, Western Australia, and now live and work in the scenic Ferguson Valley. My practice revolves around acrylics, oils, charcoal, collage, oil sticks on canvas and board. I am best known for my loose abstract and semi-abstract compositions, where free mark-making and layered textures create an emotional connection with the viewer.

Inspired by the natural world, I focus on seascapes and landscapes that capture fleeting moments of beauty and insight. My work is grounded in gestural abstraction—intuitive, expressive, and open-ended—offering viewers a space to reflect and construct their own narratives
