Dardanup Art Spectacular weekend

Despite the horrible weather the Dardanup Art Spectacular was a resounding success. The committee headed by our chair Kerry Lowe, works hard for many months in advance and everyone has a role to play whether it drumming up sponsers, spreading the work on social media, organizing artists and venues , catering …. there’s a long list. I head an amazing curatorial team that worked hard over a two day window displaying over 200 artworks including painting, glass, sculptures, pottery and jewellery. The works were judged by Jan and Carl Altman who are well recognised art professionals in the Western Australian art world. They said that the standard of work was excellent and their job was not an easy one. (All art judges say that but I think they really meant it!) It took them seven hours to do the judging!

Opening night was well attended and Carl kept the crowd entertained with his witty observations of art and life. The exhibition went on display over the weekend and although it poured with rain the people came in droves. We sold a record number of art works and the hall and other art venues on the walking trail were busy with people dripping wet but determined to see the beautiful art. On a person note I couldn’t have been happier as both of my art works sold too! Happy days!

Diana Neggo Artist

Diana Neggo – Artist Bio

I was born in Perth, Western Australia, and now live and work in the scenic Ferguson Valley. My practice revolves around acrylics, oils, charcoal, collage, oil sticks on canvas and board. I am best known for my loose abstract and semi-abstract compositions, where free mark-making and layered textures create an emotional connection with the viewer.

Inspired by the natural world, I focus on seascapes and landscapes that capture fleeting moments of beauty and insight. My work is grounded in gestural abstraction—intuitive, expressive, and open-ended—offering viewers a space to reflect and construct their own narratives
